Trees have an interesting role in the world of spirituality. Trees have been held sacred in many cultures both ancient and modern. Both beautiful and symbolic, trees are very powerful and can influence our spiritual lives.
Trees are a source of energy on many levels. Physically they help people and the planet by providing oxygen and shade. They can provide shelter and habitats for animals. Some trees also give their fruit and wood to help ensure our survival.
Nature is a medicine that works for all mental and emotional ailments. Though we need to do the legwork to become our healthiest and highest self, nature is up there on the list of remedies.
Whether it be a lonely heart, a tired mind, depression, ADHD, stress, or anxiety (etc.), nature finds a way to help. We are all deeply rooted in nature, whether we feel it or not; and getting back to our source gives our spirit a good cleanse.
We and trees benefit one another by replenishing each other’s breath — we are the breath of life to one another. Wow, right? There is a beautiful truth here — “symbiotic nature”.
Trees like all living things have an energy frequency or vibration and an aura. With roots reaching deep into the earth, they have excellent grounding energy. Their vibrations are slower, deeper and more concentrated compared to some other living things. Essentially they give out the energy vibe of safety, security and stability.
By coming into contact with a tree you will pick up these vibrations whether you are consciously aware of it or not. You begin to resonate with the tree’s energy and you become more centered and grounded. This can help explain the comfort many people feel when next to a tree. Maybe the hippies had the right idea when they advised people to go “hug a tree.”
If you practice Reiki or some other form of energy healing, offer it to a tree. As living things, they can appreciate a dose of universal life energy too. It also benefits the giver by spreading good karma. If you don’t practice energy healing, then say a prayer, blessing or send positive intentions for the health of both the tree and yourself.
